An early and seasonable Spring on the Vineyard is not something we are able to enjoy every year. This year has been different, however, and the flowering trees have been magnificent and the new green foliage vibrant. There were even May afternoons spent at the baseball field without winter coats, hats and gloves! All signs point to a warm and sunny summer and we can’t wait for the first swim of the season!
All the towns are hives of activity, with repaving, repainting and window washing projects being completed to ready the island for our summer visitors. Already, foot traffic on the boats has shown a marked increase and the outlook among business people is upbeat.
Real estate sales have picked up considerably in the first quarter of 2010 and all signs indicate that we are finally coming out of the woods. Many folks who had not been able to afford Vineyard real estate in the past have been able to purchase homes in the past six months. We have so enjoyed being able to help people finally achieve their dream of owning “a piece of the Rock”! There are still many good buys available but as demand increases, we expect to see real estate values begin to increase.
